Alcantara and microsuede look fantastic and behave nothing like leather. Instead of staining visibly, the fibres mat down and absorb body oils, creating shiny, hardened patches on steering wheels, seat bolsters, and shift surrounds. Most people make it worse by scrubbing with a general-purpose interior cleaner, which drives the oils deeper and permanently flattens the nap. The correct method uses minimal moisture, a dedicated cleaner, and a soft brush worked in one consistent direction to lift the fibres back up rather than crush them. Done properly, a matted steering wheel comes back remarkably close to new. The same careful approach applies to standard cloth seats, which are what most vehicles in Kingston actually have, fabric responds well to hot water extraction that pulls dirt out of the weave instead of just moving it around.

Stage I: Dry Extraction First
Loose soil is vacuumed and brushed out before any moisture is introduced, since wetting dirt first turns it into a stain.
Stage II: Low-Moisture Cleaning
A dedicated cleaner is applied sparingly and agitated with a soft brush in a single direction to lift matted fibres without flattening the nap.
Stage III: Restore the Texture
The surface is brushed uniformly as it dries so the finished nap is even, with no shiny patches or watermark rings.
