Oxidized & Faded Paint Restoration
Chalky red hood? Faded black trim? Usually recoverable.
Oxidation is what happens when UV breaks down the top layer of your paint over years of sun exposure. Red and black vehicles show it worst: a red hood turns pink and chalky, black paint goes grey and lifeless, and the surface feels rough instead of slick. If the clear coat is intact but dull, a multi-stage correction removes the oxidized layer and reveals healthy paint underneath, and the colour change can be genuinely startling. The important caveat: once clear coat starts flaking or peeling, it has failed structurally and no polish will fix it. That panel needs a repaint, and we will show you exactly where that is happening. Older trucks and daily drivers parked outside year-round are our most common candidates for this service. Follow it with a ceramic coating or sealant, because unprotected paint that has already oxidized once will do it again.
The Recovery Process
Stage I: Test for Recoverability
A small section is polished to see whether healthy paint lies beneath the oxidation, and whether the clear coat is still structurally sound.
Stage II: Cut Away the Oxidized Layer
Compounding removes the degraded surface, followed by refining stages that restore clarity and colour depth.
Stage III: Seal Against Recurrence
A sealant or ceramic coating blocks the UV exposure that caused the oxidation, protecting the restored finish going forward.
